The Queen’s Birthday Honours 2020

The Queen's Birthday Honours 2020Univ is delighted to report that Dr Peter Tibber (1976, History) was awarded a CMG in The Queen’s recent Birthday Honours list “for services to British foreign policy.” Peter has recently retired from the Diplomatic Service after a distinguished career which culminated in his serving as the UK’s ambassador to the Sudan and then to Colombia.

Dr Tibber was British Ambassador to Colombia from 2015 – 2019. He joined the FCO in 1984 after completing a doctorate in medieval history at Oxford University. Dr Tibber has been posted to Sudan, France, Turkey, Mexico, Germany and Pakistan. He was a member of the Senior Management Team of UK Trade & Investment.

He is currently a Visiting Professor in Practice at LSE’s Latin America and Caribbean Centre (LACC). He is also active on Twitter.
