The Martlet issue 13
The Martlet issue 13 is now online. The first feature is a conversation between Baroness Valerie Amos, the Master, Dag Yosief, JCR President, and Judy Sayers, former WCR President.
Some of Univ’s digital entrepreneurs discuss what inspires them and how they got started on their entrepreneurial journeys. They include Alan Jay (1980, Engineering), the cofounder of IMDb.com, and Nadia Odunayo (2010, PPE), the founder and CEO of The StoryGraph, a reader-focused Goodreads alternative. Clare Bayley writes about her experience being Visitor in the Creative Arts during a pandemic. Allan Blaza (1943, Modern History) talks about what it was like to come to Univ during the Second World War, the royal visit and smoking in the JCR. Colin Coulson (1955, Engineering) speaks about the creation of the Hong Kong Mass Transit Railway.
Later in the issue, Shazia Azim (1993, PPE) reflects on the enduring relevance of the PPE course as well as her own career and being part of the Global Rhodes Scholarship committee. Dr Christian E Mammen (1993, DPhil Law), co-founder of Oxford Entrepreneurs of the Bay Area, discusses litigating intellectual property disputes, being WCR President and discovering new entrepreneurial talent. Finally, we walk around the Quad with Ebenezer Azamati (2020, DPhil International Relations).
Plus, of course, Development news, Old Member announcements and books, societies updates and the latest on digital Univ.
