Dr Nikolaos Kanellakis recently published a study on mesothelioma in Thorax. the journal of British Thoracic Society. He is the first author of the study, while Dr Najib Rahman, Supernumerary Fellow in Medicine and Director of the Oxford Respiratory Trials Unit, is the senior. They collaborated with Professor Tao Dong who is also a Supernumerary Fellow in Medicine.

Mesothelioma is an aggressive malignancy and currently there are not available biomarker guided treatments. The study established and characterised a panel of patient derived mesothelioma cell lines. It is a faithful translational model of the disease and could be used to develop guided treatments.

Dr Nikolaos I. Kanellakis has been appointed as a Stipendiary Lecturer in Pathology. He is currently a ‎postdoctoral researcher in the ‎Nuffield Department of Medicine. His research focuses on pleural malignancies and diseases.
