Teaching

I am the Tutor in Clinical Medicine at Univ. As such, I provide supervision, coordination and teaching for medical students in their clinical years (years 4 to 6) which includes bedside teaching, pastoral care and careers advice. We have a group of clinicians who provide this teaching across the clinical years.

I also provide tutorials in pathology in the 2nd year, and can provide advice and tutorials in the run up to the FHS.

Research

I direct the Oxford Respiratory Trials Unit, which is one of only a few specialised trials units with a dedicated interest in respiratory disease. We design, coordinate and conduct clinical studies including early phase, translational and multi-centre randomised trials, across a broad spectrum of respiratory disease.

My personal research interest is in pleural disease, and specifically practice changing clinical trials and translational studies in pleural infection, pneumothorax, malignant pleural effusion and empyema.

My group has published more than 80 peer reviewed articles in this field.
