Sir Ivor Crewe & Paul Chellgren CASE awards
The College is delighted to announce two awards given by CASE, the Council for the Advancement and Support for Higher Education.
Sir Ivor Crewe, former Master of Univ, has won the 2020 CASE Europe Leadership Award, for his outstanding success in inspiring and leading the College’s fundraising strategy during his tenure as Master, from 2008-2020. Raising some £58m for the College overall, Sir Ivor was the guiding light behind the successful Univ 20/20 campaign, establishing the most generous scheme for postgraduate support in Oxford. He also oversaw the establishment of the Univ Opportunity Fund, later adopted by the entire University. More recently he gave his attention to the Univ North Campaign and was able to bring it very nearly to completion before his retirement last year.
At the same time Paul Chellgren (1966, Economics) has won the 2020 CASE Europe Volunteer of the Year Award. Paul founded and then directed AFUCO, the American Friends of University College. His steadfast support as a leader, administrator, and donor over forty years have been truly remarkable. Donations through AFUCO have been vital to the College, totalling more than £20m since its inception in 1980. And it is safe to say that many of our appeals would not have enjoyed the success that they’ve had without Paul’s tireless efforts.
The College wishes to congratulate them both for these tremendous achievements.
