Victory at media law moot
Univ’s Alice Eccles, who is in her final year studying for a BA in Jurisprudence with Senior Status, has triumphed at the inaugural Northern European regional rounds of the Monroe E Price Media Law Moot Court Competition, hosted in partnership with the University Paris Descartes.
The competition “challenges students to engage in comparative research of legal standards at the national, regional and international levels, and to develop their arguments (in written and oral forms) on cutting-edge questions in media and ICT law.” It is currently comprised of seven Regional Rounds (South Asia, Asia-Pacific, South East Europe, North East Europe, Middle East, Africa and Americas) and a selective International Rounds held here in Oxford.
Alice and her teammates, Emma Rowland (Exeter), Yan Shen Tan and Mustaqim Iqbal (both Mansfield), not only finished their round as winners but also brought home the prize for the “Best Memorials”.
As a result, they are one of the five teams that have qualified for the International Rounds which will be held at the Bonavero Institute of Human Rights in Oxford. Between 30 March and 3 April they will go up against the other qualifying teams: The University of Luxembourg, The Humbolt University of Berlin, The Law Society Ireland, and The University of Law, UK.
College wishes Alice and her teammates the very best of luck.
