Skye McAlpine Tavola

Skye in blue with arms on a table and pruned foliage in the background, dappled sunlight gives a sense of warmthSkye McAlpine (2003, Classics), author of the cookbooks A Table in Venice and A Table for Friends, has created her own line of tableware: Skye McAlpine Tavola.

Skye McAlpine Tavola is an edit of pieces for the table and brings to life the pages of her cookbooks from cookware and glassware to table decoration and linens. Skye’s first collection in her name only.

Skye’s first book, A Table in Venice, explored Venetian food from recipes translated from old Venetian cookbooks to modern interpretations of dishes using iconic Venetian ingredients and flavours. Her second book, Table for Friends, is split into four useful chapters (Stars, Sides, Sweets and Extras) with plenty of recipes perfect for socially distanced picnics. Skye also recently collaborated with Papier to produce their first recipe journal as well as menus, place cards and thank you notes.

Skye writes a regular recipe column for The Sunday Times and contributes to a number of publications around the world, including Vogue, the Daily Telegraph and Vanity Fair. In 2020, she was named one of the 50 most influential women in food by the Italian daily newspaper, Corriere della Sera.

We interviewed Skye in the Spring 2019 issue of The Martlet, pp. 24-25.
