Skye McAlpine at the Big Feastival

Skye in blue with arms on a table and pruned foliage in the background, dappled sunlight gives a sense of warmthSkye McAlpine (2003, Classics), author of A Table in Venice and A Table for Friends, is appearing at the Big Feastival on Sunday 29 August. The Big Feastival, a family-friendly festival for food and music lovers, is now in its ninth year. Hosted on Blur’s Alex James Cotswolds farm, the event this year is running from 27 to 29 August.

Skye’s first book, A Table in Venice, explores Venetian food from recipes translated from old Venetian cookbooks to modern interpretations of dishes using iconic Venetian ingredients and flavours. A Table for Friends is split into four useful chapters (Stars, Sides, Sweets and Extras) with plenty of recipes perfect for socially distanced picnics. The chapters are sectioned into “Throw Together”, “On the Hob” and “In the Oven”, so you know where to look if you don’t have much time or there’s a heatwave. In July 2020, Skye revealed her tableware collaboration with Anthropologie.

We interviewed Skye in the Spring 2019 issue of The Martlet, pp. 24-25. A Table for Friends is available on Amazon or Blackwell’s. Tickets for the Big Feastival are still available online.
