1249 Society
At Univ, we like to make an impact. The 1249 Society is no exception and, through the generous benefaction of its members, has made a substantial impact on numerous College initiatives, enabling Univ to provide a well-rounded experience for our students.
To become a member of this ever-growing community of donors we ask for a minimum recurring monthly gift of £12.49. In recognition of your continued support, members of the 1249 Society will receive an invitation to an annual Garden Party in July and a copy of Univ Futures magazine, detailing the impact of members’ support.
Regular gifts are vital to the College as they provide us with a sustainable income, allowing us to plan effectively for the future. Regular gifts add up to equal some of the larger gifts we receive and have the capacity to transform a student’s experience at Univ.
If you would like to join the 1249 Society, please contact Grace Lane in the Development Office at Grace.lane@univ.ox.ac.uk or visit the Give to Univ page and make your gift.
Thank you for your continued support!
William of Durham Club
We understand that the contents of your will are a private matter. However, should you wish to let us know of your intention to leave a gift to Univ, we would be delighted, as we would then be able to thank you for your kind support.
To show our appreciation, we invite those who have pledged a gift in their will to join our William of Durham Club. Members are invited each year to a luncheon with the Master in College, along with a guest speaker and a concert or a performance from the Univ Players. It is a popular event, often attended by current and Emeritus Fellows as well as Old Members and friends.
To find out more about the William of Durham Club, legacies to the College or to let us know your plans, please get in touch with our Legacies team at Legacies@univ.ox.ac.uk.
Young Univ
Young Univ is our community for Univ alumni aged 35 and under, designed to help you stay connected to the people and spirit of Univ as life moves beyond Oxford. Throughout the year, we host a mix of socials, networking events, and thought-provoking talks, all tailored to a younger audience and focused on building lasting connections with fellow Univites.
The group is spearheaded by the Young Univ Ambassadors, who support in organising events and are a familiar face at each one; there to welcome new faces and help everyone feel part of the community. Make sure to keep an eye out for upcoming events and opportunities, organised by and for Young Univ.
Univ in the Arts
Univ in the Arts was formed in 2018 to raise the profile of the humanities across the College’s extended community and bring together Old Members working in the humanities, the arts and media, as well as those with an interest in these areas. The Committee organises humanities-themed events on a regular basis, in London and Oxford.
Since its inauguration, Univ in the Arts events have covered history, music, Putin’s Russia, medical writing, journalism, fiction, and the battlefields of “truth”, harnessing the extraordinary talents of our Old Members.
Please look out for invitations to our events which will be sent by email and/or posted on the Univ events page. If you are interested in being a part of the Univ in the Arts team, either with ideas, or as a speaker or potential committee member, the Development Office would be happy to hear from you. Please email us at development@univ.ox.ac.uk.
Equity Circle
The Univ Equity Circle invites former members and friends of University College, Oxford to pledge a percentage of unexpected financial gains (such as windfalls or bonuses) to support the College. This ongoing contribution helps ensure the College continues to thrive.
How does it work?
You can pledge a percentage of any unanticipated financial gain. For example, one Old Member has committed to donating 7% of their windfall to charity, with at least half going to the College until 2035. Your pledge, whether at 7% or another level, can make a meaningful difference to student life at Univ.
If you are interested in becoming a founding member of the Univ Equity Circle, please contact Development@univ.ox.ac.uk for more information or to set up a pledge. You can also reach out to Martha Cass, Senior Philanthropy Manager and Head of Campaign at Univ at Martha.Cass@univ.ox.ac.uk.
