Royal Academy of Music appointment

Giles Underwood in Univ's ChapelUniv’s Director of Music, Giles Underwood, has been appointed Professor of Singing at The Royal Academy of Music; a role he takes up in September 2016.

Giles will join a faculty of only 22 singing professors, and will have responsibility for training the next generation of operatic and concert singers, predominantly baritones and basses. This position means he will visit the Academy twice a week, but will be able to fit his teaching around his work at Univ and a reduced teaching studio in Oxford. He will continue to teach at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama and will retain his role as Vocal Coach to the London Symphony Chorus.
