Professor Colin Reid Wins Legal Pioneer Award
Professor Colin T Reid (1976, Law) has been awarded the prestigious Legal Pioneer Award by the Law Society of Scotland, recognising his outstanding contributions to environmental law. The award, newly launched as part of the Law Society’s 75th anniversary celebrations, highlights individuals who have made a significant and lasting impact on Scotland’s legal sector.
The awards were presented at the Law Society’s annual conference in Edinburgh on 31 October 2024 by Law Society President Susan Murray. Professor Reid, Professor Emeritus at the University of Dundee Law School, was celebrated for his pioneering work in environmental law, which has influenced the development of legislation in this critical field.
The Society’s Chief Executive, Diane McGiffen, praised the recipients: “The Society’s judging panel were impressed by all of the nominees put forward for our new award and it was certainly no easy task to decide on our winners. Huge congratulations to all of our legal pioneers – they have all made such important contributions to the law and legal practice in Scotland and beyond.”
