Meet our new Schools Liaison & Access Officer

Young woman with a short light ginger bob smiling standing in the streets of OxfordHi everyone, I’m Savannah and I’m the new School Liaison and Access Officer here at Univ!

I’ve come here from “The Other Place” – I did an MPhil in Philosophy of Science at Magdalene College, Cambridge and then worked as an access officer at Cambridge SU for a year. My work at Cambridge SU made me really passionate about student representation and making sure students are involved as decision-makers in projects, and I’m keen to bring this with me into Univ as I head up our team of Student Ambassadors.

Before this, I did a BSc in Mathematics at the University of Nottingham. Whilst at Nottingham, I worked as a Student Ambassador myself and a digital content creator – I started my YouTube channel in my first year at Nottingham and have kept it up ever since!

I’m originally from Wolverhampton, just over the county border into South Staffordshire. Staffordshire is one of Univ’s link areas for schools which feels very serendipitous! I’m proud to be from the Black Country and wish I hadn’t consciously tried to lose my accent when I was younger.

Birmingham is a great city – definitely visit if you can!  I’m a triplet born on 29 February, and everyone in my family but me is a professional ballroom and Latin dancer. Finally, I’m learning Welsh, Hindi/Urdu and French – a strange combo but I’m a bit of a language and linguistics nerd!

I’m so excited to work on Access at Univ and get to know everyone – please do get in touch! Once I’ve settled in Oxford, my partner and I will be getting a puppy who I’m keen to bring into college… keep your eyes peeled!
