Jon Baines’ (1997, English) translation of The Diary of a Red Army Officer has been published by the Instytut Pamięci Narodowej (IPN).
Robert Ballingall (2007, Politics) published his first book, Plato’s Reverent City: The ‘Laws’ and the Politics of Authority (Palgrave Macmillan, 2023).

Jonathan Bowen – The Arts and Computational Culture
Professor Jonathan P Bowen FBCS FRSA (1974, Engineering Science) has a new book: The Arts and Computational Culture: Real and Virtual Worlds (Springer, 2024).
Andrew Burnett (1970, Modern History) published The Dutch Rediscover the Dutch-Africans (1847-1900): Brother Nation or Lost Colony? (Brill, Leiden & Boston, 2022).

Robert Cioffi – Egypt, Ethiopia and the Greek Novel
Robert Cioffi (2005, Greek and/or Latin Languages and Literatures) published Egypt, Ethiopia, and the Greek Novel (OUP, 2024).
Dr Kenneth Clarke (2003, English) published Dante’s Divine Comedy: A Reading Guide (Cambridge University Press, May 2024).
George Crowder (1982, Politics) has a book forthcoming: Isaiah Berlin in the Twenty-First Century (Routledge, 2025).

Martin Davis – House of Sandys
Martin Davis FRSA (1962, Law) published House of Sandys: Fragments from the Ombersley Court Archive (Anthony Eyre, Mount Orleans Press, June 2024), a fascinating history of the Sandys family and their tenure at Ombersley Court over four centuries.
Andrew Dow (1964, Theology) produced a small paper back called Christianity Unwrapped – God’s Rescue Pack Revealed, a short introduction to the Christian Faith intended for the honest doubter, the open-minded sceptic, and anyone comparatively newly committed to Jesus Christ.

Shomit Dutta – Stumped
Stumped by Shomit Dutta (1989, Classics) was shortlisted for the MCC/Wisden Book of the Year 2024.

John Fox – Occasional Remedies
John Fox MBE (1959, PPE) published his fourth poetry collection: Occasional remedies (Dead Good Guides).

Stephen Gaskell – Shadow of the Endless
Stephen Gaskell (1994, Physics) published Shadows of the Endless (Titan Books, 2024).
Jules Goddard (1962, Geography) published Letting Go of Logic (Ethics Press, 2024) and The Moral Philosophy of FA Hayek and the Reinvention of Management (CUP, forthcoming).
Dr John Godwin (1973, Classics) published Roman Verse Satires – Spleen and Ideal (Liverpool University Press, 2 April 2024).

Richard Hilliard – Plenty of Grapes
Richard Hilliard (1968, English Literature and Language) published Plenty of Grapes and appeared at the Isle of Wight Literary Festival in October 2024.
Stephen Hofmeyr (1979, Jurisprudence) is co-editor of Carver on Charterparties, 3rd edition (Sweet & Maxwell, August 2024).

Geraint Jennings (1985, Modern languages) published the Jèrriais translation of Le Petit Prince (December 2023). He discussed his translations at the Jersey Festival of Words in September.

Nayani Jensen – Like Rabbits
Nayani Jensen (2018, English Literature) won the 2024 Bronwen Wallace Award for Emerging Writers from the Writers’ Trust of Canada for her short fiction piece “Like Rabbits.”

Colin Lang (1953, PPE) recently published In My Time: a Personal Journey (Em Publishing, 2023).

Julian Lindley-French – The Retreat from Strategy
Professor Julian Lindley-French (1976, History), strategic analyst, author, speaker and commentator, published The Retreat from Strategy (London: Hurst, 2024) with friend and colleague General Lord Richards. The book was named by The Times as one of the top five books for 2024 on world affairs. Professor Lindley-French is currently writing Future War in the Pacific (London: Hurst) with US colleagues, Generals Allen and Hodges and Australian colleague, General Ryan.

Antonia Lloyd-Jones – Warsaw Tales
Antonia Lloyd-Jones (1980, Russian and Ancient Greek) selected stories for, and translated (from Polish), Warsaw Tales (OUP, 12 December 2024) and translated Olga Tokarczuk’s The Empusium: A Health Resort Horror Story (Fitzcarraldo, 26 September 2024).

Paul McKechnie – A Monument More Lasting Than Bronze
Paul McKechnie (1980, Literae Humaniores) edited A Monument More Lasting than Bronze: Classics in the University of Malawi, 1982–2019 (with Steve Nyamilandu and Samson Kambalu) (Harvard University Press, 3 September 2024).
Keith Miles (writing as Edward Marston) (1959, Modern History) published Spring Offensive, the eleventh title in the Home Front Detective series which features major crimes in Britain during the First World War (Allison and Busby, 2024).
John Minoprio (1957, Law) published Aachen Equestrian Beauty – Horse Show to the World (Unicorn, June 2024). He is also the author of The Blue andBuff – Portrait of an English Hunt (Swan Hill, 1992) and Horses and Heroes – The Photography of John Minoprio (Swan Hill, 2000).
Peter Morrell (1963, French and German) published a memoir Reminiscences of a Nearly Somebody (i2i Publishing, 2022). He is also the author of The Rector of Pepynbridge and The Islamist of Pepynbridge.
Stephen Morris (1986, Physics) writes crime fiction with his wife, Margarita, under the pen name M S Morris. Their “Bridget Hart” police detective series is set in Oxford. The Foaming Deep: A Yorkshire Murder Mystery (DCI Tom Raven Crime Thrillers Book 8) is due out in January 2025.

Neel Mukherjee – Choice
Neel Mukherjee’s FRSL (1991, English Language and Literature) latest book Choice is a devastating exploration of ethics and the limits of individual choice that confronts assumptions about economics, race and appropriation.

Holger Nehring – Cold War Scotland
Holger Nehring (2000, Modern History) co-authored a book (with Samuel J. M. M. Alberti, Jessica Douthwaite and Sarah Harper) on Cold War Scotland (Edinburgh: NMS Publications, 2024). The book accompanies an exhibition on Cold War Scotland at National Museums Scotland in Edinburgh that will be open till 31 January 2025, and to whose curation Holger contributed as part of a major research project funded by the Arts and Humanities Research Council.
Julia Nightingale (1985, Medicine) recently published a children’s story book called “Who am I?” (Austin Macauley Publishers, 2023).

Thilo Offergeld (1990, Modern History) published 75 Jahre Universität des Saarlandes. Themen, Akteure, Orte ihrer Geschichte (Geistkirch Verlag, 2023).
Reginald Oliver (1971, Literae Humaniores) has two books forthcoming: This Haunted Heaven (short stories – Tartarus Press, 2024), and Wings of Night (novel – PS Publications, 2025).

In addition to a chapbook of poetry titled, Promissory Notes, Joseph Pizza (2005, English) recently published a new academic monograph: Dissonant Voices: Race, Jazz, and Innovative Poetics in Mid-Century America (University of Iowa Press, 2023).

Andrew Robinson – Einstein in Oxford
Andrew Robinson (1975, Chemistry) published Einstein in Oxford, an intimate account of Albert Einstein’s visit to Oxford in the 1930s, casting new light on why he continues to be the world’s most famous scientist (Bodleian Library Publishing, September 2024).

Sean Sayers – The Making of a Marxist Philosopher
The Making of a Marxist Philosopher: A Memoir (Routledge, July 2024) is a revealing and beautifully written memoir and family history from renowned Marxist philosopher Professor Sean Sayers (1966, Philosophy).
John Sills (1977, PPE), author of The Decision and Hope Rising, part of a political trilogy set in 2027-28, has a third book, Different Days, in progress.

Olivia Walsh (2003, General Linguistics and Comparative Philology) edited Historical and Sociolinguistic Approaches to French (with Janice Carruthers and Mairi McLaughlin) (OUP, July 2024).
Michael Ward (1968, PPE) published Unceasing War on Poverty, Beatrice and Sidney Webb and their World, (Conrad Press, 2024).
Colin Whorlow OBE (1983, Mathematics) is the editor and co-author of the Times Mindset Puzzles book, published in 2023.

Alexandra Wilson – The Witness
Alexandra Wilson’s (2013, PPE) second book The Witness, a legal thriller, was published in June 2024.
Nigel Wood (1972, English Language and Literature) published Shakespeare and Reception Theory (Bloomsbury, 2022).
