A Midsummer Night’s Dream

Frederick Waxman’s (2014, Experimental Psychology) company Figure are to perform Shakespeare’s A Midsummer Night’s Dream at Opera Holland Park from 29 June to 1 July, with live orchestra and incidental music by Mendelssohn.

Comedy and movement specialist Sam Rayner (whose work includes collaborations with Jack Whitehall and Leo Reich, and has been listed in The Guardian’s “Readers’ Favourite Shows of 2022” and New York Times’ Critics’ Picks of 2023) returns to collaborate with Figure after last years “fantastically detailed” (The Guardian) staging of Serse, the first Handel opera ever at Opera Holland Park.

Figure is joined by a fantastic a cast including RSC associate and Harry Potter actor Ray Fearon as Oberon, comedian and star of Netflix series Shadow and Bone Anna Leong Brophy as Titania, and T. S. Eliot Prize Winning author and performer Joelle Taylor. Children from Theatre Peckham make up the chorus of fairies.
