Univ ephemera appeal

Archives appeal for Univ ephemeraAn appeal from the College Archivist, Robin Darwall-Smith, for Univ ephemera from the 1970s and 1980s:

“Over the years, many of you have been very generous to the archives in giving me your Univ. ephemera, be it photographs, dinner menus, posters, programmes (even old film!), or just anything related to your years here. Thanks to your kindness in the past, we now have some fascinating material from the 1940s to the 1960s.

“But we don’t have very much material in the archives from 1970s or the 1980s. At a time when we are starting to reflect on the 40th anniversary of the College going mixed, it is a shame that this momentous event in our history is not better reflected.

“So I am writing to you all in hope that, if any of you are starting to downsize, or clear out that attic or that cupboard which has been left undisturbed for years, and you come across any ephemera from your time at Univ. which you no longer want, and which is in a decent condition, please don’t forget the archives! I’ll be delighted to hear from any of you.”

We suggest that you e-mail Robin directly on Robin.Darwall-Smith@univ.ox.ac.uk if you have anything to offer the archives, and you can then discuss the best way of getting material to the College.
