Master’s Farewell San Francisco Reception

Master’s Farewell San Francisco ReceptionWe were pleased to invite Old Members from the San Francisco area to an evening at the home of Kevin Hartz (1992, History), San Francisco, California, to join Sir Ivor, the Master, for a farewell reception.

The reception was a chance to meet with Sir Ivor as he enters his last year at Univ. The Master provided a general overview of the College, including the recent appointment of the new Master, Baroness Valerie Amos, and an update on the College’s development in North Oxford, the largest expansion of the College in over three centuries.

John Ernest “Ernie” Hartz (1961, Law) said: “Judging from the substantial number of Old Members in attendance and their diversity, 20s to 95, a former Oxford Union President, guys and gals, many nationalities, etc., it appears the Master has garnered many friends. No doubt his hand is also evident in the selection of the new Master and interesting plans for graduate housing in North Oxford.”

Ruth Shannon (1985, Computation and Statistics) wrote: “It was a lovely event and well attended. It is always good to see some familiar faces and Sir Ivor was in fine form, as always. The new plans for Staverton are exciting and we look forward to seeing it in person one day. We will miss Sir Ivor and Jill, who have both been thoughtful and generous in their leadership of University College.”
