College News
Bank of Korea nomination for Honorary Fellow
Univ Honorary Fellow, Professor Hyun Song Shin, has been appointed to serve as Governor of the Bank of Korea. Professor Shin was a Tutorial Fellow in Economics at Univ from 1990 to 1994 and was elected to an Honorary Fellowship in 2018. Read more here.
College cat in Bodleian exhibition
The College cat, Lyra, features in the current Pets & their People exhibition in the ST Lee Gallery at the Weston Library, part of the Bodleian Libraries. The exhibition, which opened in March and runs until 27 September 2026, explores our fascination with pets and how human relationship with animals have evolved over time. Read more here.
Univ rowers in 2026 Boat Races
The College is incredibly proud to have been represented during the 2026 Boat Race events by two current College athletes. Olivia Pegge (2024, Earth Sciences) and Phoebe Forward (2025, Psychology) represented Oxford University Boat Club in races on Friday 3 April and Saturday 4 April. Find out more here.
Drunk on History podcast
Lauren Dogaer, Lady Wallis Budge Junior Research Fellow in Egyptology at Univ, has created a podcast, Drunk on History, which focuses on alcohol usage and attempts at moderating it in the ancient world. Read more about the podcast here.

Four buildings names at Univ North
The College is pleased to announce another important milestone relating to Univ North as it enters its final stages, the naming of a number of buildings to reflect and recognise the generosity and commitment of four key contributors to the development. Read more here.

Frick Collection tour
Members of the College community attended a private tour of The Frick Collection and a cocktail reception in New York on 11 April. You can read a report of the event here.
Ivo Graham’s Orange Crush
Ivo Graham (2008, Modern Languages) performed at Oxford Playhouse on Wednesday 29 April as part of his extended sellout Orange Crush tour. Read more here.
2013-2016 Gaudy
On 21 March, Univ’s Old Members who matriculated between 2013 and 2016 were invited back to College for their Gaudy. You can read the event report written by Mati Warner (2016, English) here.
Univ Football Day 2026
On Saturday 14 March 2026, Univ students, Old Members, friends, academics and staff took part in the annual Univ Football Day. A number of teams battled it out on the pitch in the hope of winning Univ’s coveted Football Cups – The Gerry Fitzsimons Cup and The Bill Sykes Challenge Cup. Archival research in the US
Ben Willis (2023, DPhil History) has written about his US trip to Washington and Boston, where he explored a number of archives to support his work on nineteenth-century American political culture and the way in which different historical actors imagined time. This trip was funded by the Old Members’ Trust Graduate Conference and Academic Travel Fund. Read the full travel report here.

Old Members
•Commotio, one of Oxford’s foremost chamber choirs, founded and conducted by Univ Old Member Matthew Berry (1995, Music), delivered a concert titled Music for Passiontide and Easter at St Margaret’s Church, Oxford on 14 March 2026.
•Henry Noltie (1975, Plant Sciences) co-curated Flora Indica: Recovering the lost histories of Indian botanical art, an exhibition in the Shirley Sherwood Gallery of Botanical Art at Kew Gardens from 11 October 2025 to 12 April 2026.
•Members of the College community gathered for the Univ Alumni Drinks in Paris on 25 April in the Lord Byron Bar in the Lord Byron Hotel. Professor Peter Norreys, Univ Supernumerary Fellow in Physics and Professor of Inertial Fusion Science, joined members of the Development, Communications and Alumni Relations team to welcome guests to the event. Professor Norreys was in Paris to receive the Holweck Medal and Prize from the Société Française de Physique and Institute of Physics.
