William Roth’s departure

After six years of dedicated service as our Development Director, William Roth leaves Univ to take up a new senior position in the Development Office of the University of Toronto.

Members of the College gathered to say their farewells on a snow-swept Oxford day, conditions that William joked were preparing him for his new Canadian home.

William reflected on his time at Univ, noting that one is “only as good as the place that you represent” and thanking the many wonderful people he had met along his Oxford journey – the Development Office team, his PA Carol Webb, the staff, Fellows and Alumni of College. He also made special mention of Simon Cotterell, our long-serving Common Room Steward, and Bob Maskell, Univ’s former Head Porter; “Two little angels” who had helped smooth the transatlantic path on his arrival.

Thanking William for “six golden years of extraordinarily successful fundraising” and his “Deep and relentless commitment to College” the Master, Sir Ivor Crewe, highlighted many of William’s innovative fundraising initiatives and drives to engage our Old Members; Univ in the City, Young Univ, Univ in the Arts and the 1249 Society amongst them.

We all wish William well for the future.
