Town and Gown 2020 entries
Please Note: The Oxford Town and Gown has now been cancelled – those who have already entered will receive email updates from the event organisers.
On Sunday 3 May 2020, Univ will once again be entering a college team in to the Oxford Town and Gown 10k. An impressive 108 students, staff, friends, and alumni ran in 2019, winning College the coveted “Largest Team Trophy” and raising £480 for Muscular Dystrophy UK in the process.

All members of the University College community are encouraged to join Team Univ for 2020. The award-winning Town and Gown 10km event takes place on a flat and scenic route around the city centre and University Parks. The race usually attracts around 4,000 runners, and spectators can line the route to cheer runners on as it winds through the town. All runners (and non-runners!) are welcome to join the team, from the eager athletes to those just beginning to build up their fitness. With 10 weeks to go, this really is an achievable distance, even for those new to running. Members of Team Univ, together with family and friends, will also be invited to have Brunch in College after the race.
Please note: the deadline to sign up to Team Univ is Friday 3 April.
To join Team Univ, you will first need to enter the race on Town and Gown website.
The registration process has changed this year and the organisers will ask you if you are “Representing Oxford Town or Oxford Gown” and which College you are part of. This will NOT add you to our team! You need to continue right to the bottom of the registration form to “Join an existing group”. Search here and select “University College” to join our team.
Once you have registered and paid the race entry fee, please let us know by completing this Google form. This will enable us to keep track of who is running, know which size T-shirt you need, and book you in for the all-important post-race brunch!
The College will generously be providing Team Univ running shirts for those who enter the race (although we do ask that previous participants please wear their existing shirt). Everyone who finishes also gets an official Town & Gown medal in their goody bag. Unfortunately the entry fee no longer includes a free Town & Gown T-shirt, but these are available to purchase during the registration process.
If you haven’t done an event like this before you will find the whole experience very empowering, and being part of the College team, running alongside friends, makes it even more enjoyable. The event supports Muscular Dystrophy research, so just by entering you will be supporting a very good cause. Most people just run for fun, but every participant is individually timed so if you want to challenge yourself, you can. We will be fundraising as a team for Muscular Dystrophy UK; please share the following link with any friends or family who may wish to support the team: justgiving.com/fundraising/TeamUniv2020
Participants are welcome to fundraise individually should they prefer.
