The Master and the Coronation

Valerie Amos, the Master, in full regalia in the Order of the Garter processionOn Saturday 6 May, Baroness Amos LG, Master of Univ, will play a public role in the Coronation of King Charles III. As part of the Coronation Liturgy, Baroness Amos LG will follow the Archbishop of Canterbury in the act of Recognition of His Majesty, in which the King will be presented to the Congregation at the start of the Service at Westminster Abbey.

The ceremony, for which the King has emphasised diversity, will start at 11am after the procession arrives from Buckingham Palace, with broadcasts of the full day beginning at 7.30am.

June 2022, saw the Master’s Investiture and Installation to the Order of the Garter, at a ceremony in Windsor Castle followed by a service in St George’s Chapel, making her the first black person to be appointed to the Order.
