Baroness Amos visits Model UN at local school
On 6 October, Baroness Valerie Amos visited Wood Farm Primary School in Oxford to take part in a Model UN session during which students debated the protection of the world’s oceans. Read more here.

Milestones Anniversary Reunion
Andrew Moore (1964, History) has written a report of the Milestones Anniversary Reunion, during which Old Members who matriculated in 1954, 1955, 1964, 1965, 1974 and 1975 and their guests were invited back to College to celebrate 50, 60 and 70 years respectively since their matriculation. Team Univ Charity Cycle Ride 2025

Accessing Archives in New Delhi
Shubhankar Kashyap (2024, DPhil International Relations) has provided an account of exploring India’s national archives and The Prime Minister’s Museum and Library as part of a project examining the role of international intellectual exchanges in the formation of Indian anticolonial thought in early twentieth century. Fellows and other academics
• Mx Alex Benn, Senior Lecturer in Law, talks about class, gender and being a barrister in a new video in the Off the Beaten Track series, a project founded by the Nuffield Department of Surgical Sciences at the University of Oxford. Watch the full video here.
• Professor Sarah Harper, Supernumerary Fellow in Gerontology, Director and Clore Professor of Gerontology at the Oxford Institute of Population Ageing, commented on people living longer and healthier lives in an article titled “Where is all the housing for older people?” in the Financial Times. • Professor Tamsin Mather, Supernumerary Fellow in Earth Sciences and Professor of Earth Sciences, has been featured in three videos sharing her knowledge on “The power of volcanoes”, “Humans and volcanoes”, and “Volcanoes and the origins of life.” The videos form part of the The Philip Leverhulme Prize Collection on EXPeditions, an open-access digital platform created to bridge the gap between scholars and members of the public.
• Professor Patrick Rebeschini, Tutorial Fellow in Statistics and Professor of Statistics and Machine Learning, will host a workshop on Game-Theoretic Statistics and Online Learning in Oxford at Jesus College on 28 November 2025.
• Professor Tian Yuan Tan 陳靝沅, Univ Professorial Fellow, Chair and Shaw Professor of Chinese, is to deliver a talk on “Digitising and Unlocking Early Modern Chinese Court Drama” at the Weston Library (Bodleian Libraries) at 1pm on Wednesday 12 November. This talk introduces the “TEXTCOURT” research project, of which Professor Tian Yuan Tan is Principal Investigator, which uses digital methods to explore the rich and interconnected textual worlds of early modern Chinese court drama. • Dr Laura Varnam, Lecturer in Old and Middle English Literature, will be taking part in “Reweaving the Poem, an afternoon of poetry performance and conversation” 16 November at Blackwell’s Bookshop in Oxford. You can find out more here.

• Andrew Dyson (1991, Ancient and Modern History) was recently appointed as Managing Partner for the UK, at global law firm DLA Piper, having previously led the firm’s international Data, Privacy and Cybersecurity practice.
• Rebecca Kuang (2019, Contemporary Chinese Studies), writing as R.F. Kuang, published Katabasis (HarperVoyager, August 2025) and has since signed a new four-book deal with HarperCollins.
• Skye McAlpine (2003, Classics) published The Christmas Companion: Recipes, crafts and inspiration for a magical festive season (Bloomsbury Publishing, October 2025).
• Tom Mayne (1997, Modern Languages) published his first book along with co-writers John Heathershaw and Tena Prelec, Indulging Kleptocracy (OUP, February 2025).
