The College is pleased to announce that the Mendl-Schrama Prize in Music 2026 is open to all undergraduate singers and keyboard players from across the University. Read more here.
Eldon Society Reunion Dinner 2025
On 15 November, the College welcomed 120 past and present Univ lawyers to the College for the Eldon Society Reunion Dinner. Guest matriculation dates spanned from the 1950s to the 2020s, with judges, KCs and academics in attendance. Read the full event report by Andrew Horrocks (1981, Law) here.
PPE Centenary Professorship Lecture 2025
On 12 November, Professor Nancy Cartwright, Centenary Visiting Professor in Philosophy, Politics and Economics at the University of Oxford 2025-26 delivered the 2025 PPE Centenary Professorship Lecture at The Queen’s College, Oxford on the topic “Is Economics the Queen of the Social Sciences?” Read the full event report by Nick Perry (1974, Philosophy) here.
The Frank Marshall Instrumental Prize
The College has launched The Frank Marshall Instrumental Prize, open to all undergraduate and postgraduate instrumentalists currently studying at University College, Oxford. The objective of the prize is to provide meaningful financial support for outstanding musicians to pursue extra-curricular music study. Read more here.
Thank you for supporting Univ’s Giving Day 2025

Pergola in Place at Univ North
The College’s Univ North development now includes a wooden pergola, constructed using green oak from the College’s own woodland in Linton-on-Ouse in Yorkshire. Read more here.

World Congress of Chemical Engineering
Mingyu Luo (2023, DPhil Inorganic Chemistry) has written about about attending the World Congress of Chemical Engineering (WCCE) in Beijing from 14–18 July 2025 as a PhD student in the Michail Stamatakis group at Oxford. Read the full travel report here.
DPhil Engineer in G-Research prize
Final year DPhil student Álvaro Arroyo (2021, Engineering) was named runner up in the G-Research 2025 PhD prize. The prize is open to final or penultimate year PhD students at specific universities, working across areas including Machine Learning, Quantitative Finance and Mathematics. Read more here.
Scientific Studies of Consciousness in Greece
Yu-An Chen (2024, DPhil Experimental Psychology) has provided a report relating to this year’s annual meeting of the Association of Scientific Studies of Consciousness (ASSC) in Greece. George Webb Medley Prize 2024/25
Martin Brogaard (2023, Economics) has been awarded the George Webb Medley Prize 2024/2025 for the Best Overall Performance in Written Exams across the two years in the MPhil in Economics. The George Webb Medley Fund is the principal prize fund for Economics, Politics and Philosophy in Oxford. Read more here.

• Professor Tasmin Mather featured on public radio station Science Friday, where she provided an in-depth answer to the question “Can we just throw our plastic garbage into a volcano?” You can listen to the episode here.
Old Members
•Dr Ananya Dutta Gupta (1999, English) has bee promoted to the position of Professor of English at Visva-Bharati University in India.
•Dr Sara Lodge (1994, English) was elected a Fellow of the Royal Historical Society (RHS). Founded in 1868, the RHS is a learned society that promotes history and historians in the UK. Read more here.
• Luke Ramsden (1999, History) has been appointed to lead St John’s College in Cardiff upon the the retirement of its current Head, Shaun Moody. Mr Ramsden will take up his new post on 1 September, 2026.
