Professor Adam Smith

Professor Adam Smith, Vice-Master of University College and Edward Orsborn Professor of US Politics and Political History at the University of Oxford, will speak at Meeting Minds Oxford on 19 September 2026 in his role as Director of the Rothermere American Institute.

He will join a distinguished panel for “Chancellor: Foreign Policy in a Turbulent World”, chaired by The Right Honourable The Lord Hague of Richmond, Chancellor of the University of Oxford. Fellow panellists include Sir Peter Westmacott, former UK Ambassador to the United States, and Catherine Royle, Principal of Somerville College, Oxford.

The session will take place at 11am on 19 September.

What does effective foreign policy look like in an increasingly turbulent world? In this timely discussion, Lord Hague and an expert panel will explore the changing landscape of international relations, diplomacy and global security. Drawing on perspectives from academia, government and diplomacy, the speakers will examine how nations navigate shifting alliances, geopolitical tensions and an increasingly complex international environment.
