Winner of the Frank Marshall Prize 2026
The College is delighted to announce the winner of the Frank Marshall Instrumental Prize, 2026 as Lucy Baker (viola). Lucy is in her first year at Univ, studying History and Philosophy. She wins the £500 prize which will go towards her extra-curricular music study. In addition, Lucy will perform a short recital in the Master’s Lodgings on 29 May 2026.
This is the first year of the prize, set up last year by William Roth (Director of Development, 2013-19) in acknowledgment of the enormous contribution made by Frank Marshall to the ongoing success of Univ during his 20-year tenure as Estates Bursar and Investment Bursar.
The panel, consisting of Caroline Balding, violinist and leader of The Martlet Ensemble, and Giles Underwood, Director of Music, heard a small but strong field and would like to award internal instrumental scholarships of £100 each to Edison Fu (2025, Physics), Teresa Yu (2025, Philosopy) and Arthur Bird (2023, Music) in recognition of their efforts.
