Univ Postcard Competition
The Univ Outreach Team is running a competition for Univ members to design a brand-new postcard. The winning design will be printed and handed out to prospective students at Open Days, school visits and outbound visits. Read more about the competition here.

Winner of the Dr Michael Nicholson Prize 2025

Dr Nikolaos Kanellakis, Stipendiary Lecturer in Pathology, and Daniel Erasmus (2024, Law, Finance) represented Oxford in the varsity race against Cambridge during the London Marathon. Read more here.

CNS Annual Meeting 2025
Julia Dabrowska wrote about her experience of attending and presenting a poster at the Cognitive Neuroscience Society’s (CNS) Annual Meeting 2025 in Boston, Massachusetts. The trip was supported by the Old Members’ Trust Graduate Conference and Academic Travel Fund. Read Julia’s full report here.

Medical elective in Panama

A visit to Germany
Omar Valeinis wrote about his trip to Germany, where he visited the aerospace laboratories at both the Institute of Space Systems at the University of Stuttgart, and the University of the Bundeswehr in Munich. The trip was supported by the Keasbey Travel Fund. Read Omar’ full report here.

Fellows and other academics
• Professor John Finnis CBE AC, LL B (1962, Law), Honorary and Emeritus Fellow, wrote a biographical memoir of Joseph Raz (1964, Law), an outstanding investigator of legal normativity’s logic and relations to the normativity of morality, aesthetic standards, and epistemic criteria. The biographical memoir was published by the British Academy and you can read it here.
• James Bryson, Sollas Tutorial Fellow in Mineralogy and Associate Professor of Mineralogy, co-authored a study which has helped to overturn the theory that water on Earth originated from asteroids hitting the planet’s surface. The study ‘The source of hydrogen in earth’s building blocks’ which was published in the journal Icarus. Read more here.

• John Hyde (1970, English) hosted the The USPGA (Univ Society Peripatetic Golf Association) Spring Meeting, which took place at Studley Wood Golf Club, Oxfordshire on 19 May 2025.
• Joanna Welsh (1991, Biology) has once again been named one of Barron’s 100 Most Influential Women in United States Finance for 2025. You can see the full list here.
• Mohamad Al-Dah (1998, Engineering) has been appointed President of the Institution of Structural Engineers with a global mandate and personally based in Dubai, UAE. Read more here.
• Dr Chris Mammen (1993, Law) was featured in the Spring 2025 issue of Computers and Law. Chris gave his personal insights into his interest in tech law and spoke about his time at Univ. You can learn more about the podcast here.
