On 3 February 2026, The Martlet Ensemble’s professional players, Caroline Balding, Dorothy Chrisman, Alex Cirstea (violin), Rose Redgrave, Lucy Baker (viola), Gabriela Zailer-Fletcher and Richard Tunnicliffe (cello), joined some of the College’s talented student instrumentalists to perform Fanny Hensel’s String Quartet and Brahms’ second Sextet.

This was a wonderful opportunity to hear these works in the Chapel, a venue so perfectly suited to chamber music. The students had worked hard over the previous few

days, and this paid off in performance, as they rose magnificently to the occasion, giving a large audience a truly captivating concert. It was particularly heartening to see so many students at the concert, as well as Old Members and members of the Senior Common Room.
