Special adviser to the Prime Minister

James Carroll
Congratulations are due to James Carroll (2009, English), who was recently appointed the Prime Minister’s Special Adviser for Partnerships. In this new role James advises the Prime Minister on partnerships that support the UK government’s missions and its Plan for Change, working with colleagues in 10 Downing Street. This involves convening people, business, civil society and government at all levels to help achieve ambitious national goals.
Previously James was a speechwriter and strategist, advising CEO-level clients across business, charities, government, entertainment and sports, and teaching communications at organisations including the Civil Service. Before that he was Executive Director of Broadcast at a London talent agency, helping to launch a new agency and building the company’s broadcast, live events and branded content business.
Over the last decade he has worked in the creative industries and political organising in the UK and US, including mayoral, presidential and general election campaigns. He took time out from this to help the Clinton Foundation and Clinton Global Initiative with their annual conferences around the UN General Assembly in New York.
