Singapore Reception 2024
On January 11, Univ’s Old Members in Singapore spanning generations came together for a drinks reception at The Mandala Club. The event welcomed a diverse cohort, from fresh-faced recent graduates to more seasoned members.
Lively laughter and conversations flowed freely, as new connections were made and old friendships rekindled. A particular highlight for me was reconnecting with an Old Member – we had last shared a table at formal hall when I was a mere student, and he was visiting Univ with his then-young children in tow.
Baroness Amos, with her updates and visionary plans for the College, inspired the crowd. Glasses were raised in a resounding toast, and as she extended an invitation for the upcoming 775th-anniversary celebrations later in the year, Old Members scrambled to mark the dates in their calendars.
Amidst the sound of glasses clinking and conversations buzzing, there was a palpable sense of camaraderie built on common ground and a shared sense of belonging. The event was more than just a soirée; it was the groundwork for a stronger Univ Old Member community in Singapore, facilitated, of course, by the magic of Whatsapp groups. Here’s to new connections, old friendships, and the timeless art of staying connected – cheers!
