Los Angeles Drinks Reception 2026

Members of the College community and their guests attended a drinks reception hosted by Douglas Yoder (1986, PPE) at his home in Montecito Heights, Los Angeles on 6 September 2026. Hannah Roberts (2011, PPE) has kindly written the following report of the event.

A wonderful evening at the home of Douglas Yoder in Los Angeles brought together West Coast alumni from a range of matriculation years. It was a lovely opportunity to reconnect with the wider alumni community, meet new people, and strengthen connections.

The evening began with a warm introduction from Baroness Amos, who unfortunately was unable to join us in person due to visa issues. Her contribution nonetheless helped set the tone for a wonderful evening of music and connection.

Guests were then treated to a piano recital by Dominik Yoder. Each piece was introduced and explained by Roza Yoder, providing fascinating context and making the performance particularly engaging. The recital was a real highlight of the evening and created a memorable and intimate atmosphere for the group.

Following the recital, drinks and a selection of delicious bites provided a relaxed opportunity to continue conversations and get to know one another better. It was particularly enjoyable to hear about the different experiences and journeys of alumni who have made their homes on the West Coast.

Sincere thanks go to Douglas and his family for their incredibly warm hospitality and for opening their home to us. It was a special evening and a wonderful reminder of the value of maintaining and growing our alumni community across the West Coast.
