Hanging up after a successful Univ Telethon 2026

The Univ Telethon 2026 student callers
The Univ Telethon 2026 took place from 22 June to 6 July 2026, shortly after the end of Trinity Term. An enthusiastic and hardworking team of 11 student callers made over 7000 calls during the Telethon, speaking to College members from the 1960’s to the 2010’s!
The Univ Telethon 2026 has successfully raised £170,000 in pledged donations for the College.
These funds will help support current and future generations of Univ students and academics. From providing bursaries and scholarships and supporting research to protecting historic College buildings, enhancing facilities and improving access for all, the money raised will have a positive and wide-reaching impact that will begin right here at Univ.
However, the calls were not just about fundraising for the College, as they also offered a unique opportunity for current students to talk to Old Members about their own Univ experience and where it has taken them. The students enjoyed hearing from people across geographic regions and generations, from both within their subject area and spanning the range of subjects offered by the College. For some callers, talking to people from their own field helped them to consider more clearly their own direction and orient themselves for the next part of their studies.
Student caller Joshua Ng (2025, Modern Languages) said, “It was a great experience to be able to get in touch with our Old Members and hear their amazing experiences. It’s given me a lot of inspiration for what I want my career to look like!”
One recurring theme in many conversations was how Univ shaped and supported Old Members to go out into the world and pursue their careers. Our callers heard stories of memorable adventures, scholarly mishaps and long-standing friendships that developed in the years spent at Univ.
The College would like to express its sincere thanks to everyone who supported Univ during the Telethon. If you were not able to make a gift during the Telethon but would still like to, please visit our Give to Univ page.
