Amanda Brookfield – The Split

Amanda Brookfield leavingThe Split, the latest novel by Amanda Brookfield (1979, English), Univ’s Visitor in the Creative Arts 2018-19, was published on 10 August. The book follows a just-divorced couple with two almost-grown-up children, and questions whether a family can ever truly be sliced in two, and who, ultimately, wields the most power – parents or children.

Amanda’s previous books include The Other Woman, Good Girls, and For the Love of a Dog.

Memoona Ahmed and Amanda Brookfield

Whilst in post as our Visitor in the Creative Arts, Amanda organised the hugely successful Univ’s Next Novelist competition, won by Memoona Ahmed (2018, Experimental Psychology); she was also instrumental in the creation Univ in the Arts, stepping down as chair in 2022 after four hugely successful years.
