Teaching

I teach undergraduate papers in the history of political thought from antiquity to the present. I also teach graduate classes on feminist theory, on methodology in the history of political thought, and on some key concepts in contemporary political theory.

Research

My research has so far focussed on early modern European political thought and contemporary feminist political theory. I have written on the reception of Aristotle’s Politics and its impact on Western political theory from the late middle ages to the mid-seventeenth century, on the history of political philosophy as a discipline, on the interaction between philosophy and imaginative literature and on ideas of citizenship, slavery, empire and the state in early modern English political thought. I am also preparing a book on the history of feminist political thought.
