Join us at the Univ Boat House for Summer Eights on Saturday 1 June, including a general reception hosted by the Master.
Master’s reception: 2.30pm
Venue: Univ Boathouse, Oxford OX1 4PS
For more information, please email Julie.Boyle@univ.ox.ac.uk
1249 Society members are warmly invited to join us for a luncheon at the Univ Boat Club and meet like-minded old members and College friends.
Timing: 12.30 – 2pm
Margaret Chamberlain (1979, Jurisprudence) will be sharing her experiences as a student from the first female cohort in the College. Despite having arrived with no interest in or knowledge of rowing, she unexpectedly found that after a conversation at the Freshers’ Dinner she had become the first woman member of the College Boat Club. She founded the Women’s Boat Club and established the Cassandrians as the counterpart to the Dinosaurs dining society. The Women’s Boat Club has a boat named after her, which was kindly donated by The Lord Moynihan and Andrew Ayres QC.
RSVP by 18 May to Sarah.Lobrot@univ.ox.ac.uk
40th women anniversary in College
As part of the 40th anniversary of the arrival of the first women students at Univ, we would like to celebrate women and sport at Univ. We are planning to display photographs of Univ women taking part in sport at College between 1979 and 2019
Call for photographic submissions:
We would be grateful if you could send us photographs of women and their sporting activities and achievements while at the College. In addition to being displayed at the Summer Eights reception, your photographic submissions will help us to enlarge our record of college life in this important anniversary year.
Electronic photos can be submitted to Sarah.Lobrot@univ.ox.ac.uk and hard copies sent to Sarah Lobrot in the Development Office here at Univ (with a stamped addressed envelope if you would like your submission returned). Please submit your photos by Friday 12 April at the latest.
With many thanks from the 40 Years of Women at Univ Steering Group.
