Memorial Dinner in honour of Dr Roy Park

Reception and Dinner in honour of Dr Roy Park18 November 2023
University College Oxford
6pm: Reception drinks in the Butler Room
7pm: Dinner and tributes in the Alington Room

The College warmly welcomes you to this evening of remembering and celebrating the life of the late Dr Roy Park, Tutorial Fellow in English (1974-1996) and Emeritus Fellow (1996-2019), whose extraordinary dedication and passion both for his subject and his students enriched and changed the lives of English Literature undergraduates and graduates over 22 years.

We are delighted that members of Roy’s family will be attending, as well as Univ contemporaries such as Professor Helen Cooper, Honorary Fellow.

We would also welcome any anecdotes or personal memories about Roy that you feel able to share, no matter how brief, and regardless of whether you can attend the dinner itself. The idea is for these to be read out as part of the tributes – a medley of flashbacks for the enjoyment of all and keeping Roy at the heart of the evening. Please email any submissions by Wednesday, 1 November to: Julie.Boyle@univ.ox.ac.uk.

In terms of accommodation, available rooms in College are likely to be very limited. For those balking at the high cost of hotels in Oxford, we can recommend the following more reasonably priced options:

Travelodge, Abingdon Road, OX1 4XG
Royal Oxford Hotel, OX1 1HR
St Margaret’s Hotel, OX2 6LD
University Rooms

Cost: £45 per person
Dress: Smart/casual

Book online using the form below by 20 October 2023.
