Open Days

Open Days 2012

If you are thinking of applying to University College, or are unsure which college to choose, why not come to one of our Open Days?

You can come on your own, with a group from your school or college, or with a parent or guardian. Open Days provide a chance for you to find out all about life at the College and to meet current students and tutors.

When are the Open Days?

Open days for 2012 will be on Wednesday 27 and Thursday 28 June, and Friday 14 September. Most colleges and departments open their doors to prospective students on these days.

Who should come to an Open Day?

If you are thinking of applying to Oxford, and University College offers places in a subject you may wish to study, then we encourage you to come to one of our Open Days to find out more about what we offer.

Do I need to book a place at an Open Day?

No booking is required for Open Day attendance at Univ.

Our Open Day Programme

At our Open Day visitors are given tours of the College by our current students.

A general admissions talk will be given at 11am. Parents and carers are most welcome to accompany prospective applicants at this talk.

Subject tutors will be available at various times between 12pm and 2pm to talk to prospective applicants. The timetable will be posted by the end of May so you can plan your visit to Oxford. We make every effort to ensure students can meet with relevant subject tutors. Please note that parents and carers cannot attend sessions with tutors due to space restrictions.

Between 1.30pm and 2.30pm we will serve refreshments in the Dining Hall and current students and staff will be available to answer any questions you might have about studying at Oxford and the student experience at Univ.

If you have any unanswered questions then you are welcome to visit our admissions surgery running between 2pm and 4pm with the Access and Schools Liaison Officer.

Can I just drop into University College?

Prospective candidates and their families are also most welcome to visit the College informally between 10.00 am and 5.00 pm on any of our Open Days, and should simply report to the welcome desk when they arrive. There is no need to register, and tours of the College will be available on a regular basis.

Making the most of your Open Day visit

Prospective applicants are encouraged to visit relevant departments. Additional information is available from the University of Oxford Open Day web pages. Univ is based right next door to the University Examination Schools – this space is used to host a variety of Open Day talks provided by the central university admissions and enquiries team.

What if I can’t make the Open Day dates?

You are very welcome to visit the College and can drop in any day between 9.00am and 5.00pm (just tell the porters that you are a prospective student) or contact the Access and Schools Liaison Officer to arrange a visit. Please note that it is not possible to arrange individual meetings with subject tutors.

Additionally, you may wish to download one of the Oxford audio tours which guides you around the city and University. Univ features on the Red Route: Student Life and can be downloaded from here .
