Undergraduate Study

University College has a vibrant community of some 370 undergraduates, with around 110 new students admitted each year. The College is well known for its warm and welcoming atmosphere and its high academic standards.

We are committed to widening access and actively encourage applications from students from all kinds of backgrounds. To enable students from less well-off backgrounds to study at Univ, we can provide one of the best financial support packages in the University. UK students eligible for government support are able to apply not only to the Oxford Opportunity Bursary scheme (funded jointly by the colleges and the University) but also for generous bursaries funded by our Old Members’ Trust.

We believe that we are the only college in Oxford to organise, free of charge, a pre-term Maths course for first-year students in Mathematics and the Sciences. This gives our students a head-start, as well as acting as a great ice-breaker.

All Univ undergraduates spend their first two years in accommodation on the College’s main site in the historic centre of Oxford. In years three and four (if applicable), they have a choice between living out, or moving to College accommodation on an attractive site in leafy North Oxford, close to fashionable Summertown with its excellent shops and café culture.

You are very welcome to visit the College or come to an Open Day. You may also find it helpful to read some profiles of current students.
