On 25th September, more than eighty Old Members aged thirty-five and under attended a drinks reception to launch the Young Univ programme at the National Portrait Gallery.
Univ Old Member Sandy Nairne CBE FSA (1971, History), Director of the National Portrait Gallery, hosted the event and gave a short talk about some of the more famous and significant portraits on the walls, including the 'Chandos portrait' of Shakespeare. The launch event was a great chance for younger Old Members to catch up with old friends and reconnect with the College. The Young Univ Programme will be organising more events in the next few months, so be sure to watch out for announcements.
'It was exciting to finally launch the Young Univ Under 35s scheme with our drinks reception at the National Portrait Gallery. A highlight of the evening was Sandy Nairne’s engaging talk on the history of the space and some of the artwork featured in the room we were in. It was great to not only facilitate the reunion of old classmates, but to enable newfound friendships.' Nadia Odunayo (2010, PPE)
Our sincere thanks to the team at the National Portrait Gallery who helped to make the launch event such a success.
