Student Ambassadors
With the generous support of its Old Members’ Trust, Univ runs a highly successful volunteering programme for our current students in which they assist with our schools liaison and access work.
About our Ambassadors
Our ambassador team is made up of over 50 students from many different backgrounds and subject areas. The Univ ambassadors:
- Work with young people to encourage, motivate and inspire them to continue and complete their studies successfully
- Assist in providing students with advice, information and guidance on progression to higher education and applying to the University of Oxford
- Act as tour-guides on Open Days, visits from schools and other events
- Meet and help visitors to the college, e.g. teachers, academic staff
- Help run a wide variety of events and schemes such as school visits, e-mentoring, summer schools, taster days for primary school, secondary school and college students
The ambassadors have completed a comprehensive training scheme to ensure they are well prepared to visit schools and colleges. Each ambassador gives as much or as little of their time as they wish. Many ambassadors find the role very worthwhile and rewarding.
If you are interested in becoming an ambassador or would like an ambassador to visit your school then please contact Anne-Marie Canning, our Access Officer, who coordinates the scheme.
